Undergraduate Honors and Awards
Honors in Economics Program

Students seeking admission to the Honors in听Economics听program must
-
have a declared major in听贰肠辞苍辞尘颈肠蝉听(叠础),听贰肠辞苍辞尘颈肠蝉听(叠厂), or听Mathematics and听贰肠辞苍辞尘颈肠蝉听(叠厂);
- have a minimum 3.70 GPA in the major core courses of听ECON-100,听ECON-200,听ECON-300/ECON-400,听ECON-301/ECON-401, and听STAT-202/STAT-203/STAT-204;
- submit a written proposal to听econ@american.edu.
The written proposal should list all ECON-XXX courses completed with individual grades, include a calculated major GPA, describe the student鈥檚 professional/graduate school aspirations and how the Honors in听Economics听program helps them achieve these goals, and identify a faculty mentor.
- 9 credit hours of Honors in听Economics听coursework
- Minimum 3.70 major GPA in听贰肠辞苍辞尘颈肠蝉听(叠础),听贰肠辞苍辞尘颈肠蝉听(叠厂), or听Mathematics and听贰肠辞苍辞尘颈肠蝉听(叠厂)
Honors Supplements (6 credit hours)
Complete 6 credit hours from the following, with honors supplements:听
Internship (3 credit hours)
Complete 3 credit hours from the following, or approved upper-level ECON coursework with honors supplement:

Undergraduate Awards
Robert T. Adams Scholarship
The Robert T. Adams Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding undergraduate student, with exhibited financial need, who is majoring in economics. Due consideration will be given to any African American student meeting the criteria.

Caroline and Rick Barnett Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student studying economics.

This prize is awarded to an undergraduate student demonstrating an exceptional research project.
