The ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®Ready Hire program is an internal program that recruits and manages a candidate pipeline of temporary administrative support professionals for academic units and departments across the university.ÌýIn its 10+ years of support to the ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®community, the ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®Ready Hire program has successfully filled over 600 positions and has worked with nearly all departments and units across the University.

Do I need to complete any payroll or employment paperwork?Ìý

You will receive a New Hire packet via e-mail upon your first Ready Hire assignment. Visit Information for New Part-Time Staff for additional information about working at ¹ú²úСßÏÅ® as a part-time employee.Ìý


How do I find out my end date for temporary positions?Ìý

Ready Hire can provide the date range in most cases, but you will need to follow-up and solidify specific end dates with your department Hiring Manager.Ìý


Can I apply to more that one Ready Hire posting at a time?Ìý

Yes, you can express interest in more than one position at a time. We try to ensure as many opportunities are open to you as possible. You will be informed when positions you applied to have been filled.Ìý


Can I apply to other positions with ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®while in the Ready Hire program?Ìý

How can Ready Hire help me when applying to staff positions on the Careers page?Ìý

What is the timeframe for getting a position?Ìý

Positions may be filled anywhere from 1 day to 3 weeks. It will be based on the pace of the department/office’s needs. You may check in with the Ready Hire Coordinator on the position status.Ìý


Is the Ready Hire Coordinator my supervisor?

No, your supervisor is the hiring manager for the department in which you interview. If there is someone else, the hiring manager with designate that individual.

How do I get my ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®ID number?

Your ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®ID number is generated when your hiring paperwork is processed. It may take up to 3 days to have this paperwork processed and have your ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®ID number generated.

How do the full-time position lengths work out?

Applicants can serve in a temporary, full-time capacity for a total of 12 weeks within one calendar year. If you do not finish a 12-week term in one assignment, you may complete the remainder in your next assignment.

What happens when campus is closed due to weather or a holiday closing?

Part-time staff are not eligible for holiday pay and will not be compensated for time lost due to a closing. Please confirm with the hiring manager as to how holidays and office closings will be addressed. Essential functions and the personnel needed to maintain those functions are determined on a situational basis.

Can I use Ready Hire as a reference when applying to other jobs?

Your reference should be the direct supervisor or coworker that is observing your work. These individuals will be able to provide the answers that are typically looked for on reference requests.

What are the requirements for applying to Ready Hire positions?

General Requirements:
Please review the job description and requirements to ensure your skill set aligns with the position. 80% of postings will be for temporary, part-time and full-time work, 10% will be for part-time permanent positions, and 10% will be for direct hire positions.

Position Specific Requirements:
Please respond to the original position announcement via email and request to have your resume sent to the hiring manager for consideration. The hiring manager will communicate directly with you or through the Ready Hire Coordinator for next steps.

  • Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit both a resume and cover letter. Cover letters should indicate types of positions for which you would like to be considered.

  • All selected candidates will undergo an in-person interview process, skills testing (Microsoft Word and Excel, a brief attention to detail test, and a proofreading test), and a reference check.

  • The ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®Ready Hire program works with a select pool of candidates. Until you hear back from the ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®Ready Hire program, please continue to apply online directly to positions in which you are interested.

What are the advantages to using ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®Ready Hire?

  • Candidates have already undergone a screening process, reference check and skills testing.

  • The stresses of the recruiting process placed on hiring managers are alleviated significantly for temporary positions.Ìý

What types of roles can ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®Ready Hire fill?

Will HR provide an offer letter?

No, HR will not send the Ready Hire an offer letter for their the majority of temporary assignments. However, some temporary assignments that fall within union eligible units will require a letter.

The Ready Hire Coordinator will capture assignment details in an Assignment Confirmation email for ALL Ready Hire opportunities that includes the following:

  • Start Date
  • Hours (Hybrid)
  • Assignment Duration
  • Location
  • Hourly Rate
  • Contact Information

Do members of the Ready Hire candidate pool complete a background check?

Yes, ALL ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®staff, includingÌýReady Hire candidates, are required to successfully complete a background check (and may require additional review from Employee Relations) before starting work. If this is the candidates first Ready Hire assignment or they have not worked at ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®for more than one year, then the hiring unit should allow extra time for onboarding to include the background check.

How do I get my new Ready Hire an email address and access to technology?

As part of the staff onboarding process, Workday is responsible for automatically creating new staff accounts for the following systems:

  • Actve Directory
  • Microsoft 365 (email, calendaring and office applications)
  • Workday

The supervisor should work with the OIT Help Desk to request a workstation and phone number be assigned and configured, as well as to request any other privileged access. See the onlineÌýÌýand Ìý.

Can a Ready Hire work full-time hours?

Candidates are eligible to work full-time (35 hrs. per week) for up to 3 months within one calendar year. Please review theÌýStaff Personnel Policies manualÌýfor more guidance.

Their goal is to provide staff with the tools needed to make the best possible choices to live a balanced and healthy life.Ìý

Another way to get involved with the ¹ú²úСßÏÅ®community is to join an Affinity Group. The Affinity Group program was launched in 2017 starting with the Black Faculty & Staff Affinity Group. Since that time, six additional affinity groups have formed, including the LGBTQ+,ÌýLatino and Hispanic,ÌýPeople of Color, InternationalÌý(¹ú²úСßÏÅ®Global), Disability+, and AANHPI Faculty and Staff Affinity Groups.Ìý
