Reproductive and Sexual Education in New Orleans

Winter Program:听Reproductive and Sexual Education in New Orleans

Through the creation of this Alternative Break trip, we want to explore further the current state at which sex education, healthy relationships, decision-making, gender identity, reproductive health, and STIs are being taught to the youth in Louisiana and the daily impacts it has. While exploring these topics, we will work and listen to community partners, educators, and grassroots organizations. When we return to Washington, D.C., we will continue to advocate for sexual education in schools using the knowledge gained from this trip.

Dates of Engagement:听Thursday, January 4th to Wednesday, Janurary 10th, 2024

Estimated Cost: $1,100 - $1,300 *听

*Final cost is subject to change based on the finalized itinerary and program fundraising efforts. Estimated cost includes ALL program expenses including airfare, food, and lodging, but does not include visa/passport fees.

Day 1: Arrive in New Orleans, get settled, and enjoy a group activity.
Day 2: Meet community partners, explore a museum, and experience the local art scene.
Day 3: Create educational content, meet more partners, and have a fun game night.
Day 4: Vist French Quarter, volunteer, and pack supplies for the community.
Day 5: Advocate for diverse sex ed, attend a panel, and unwind with a concert.
Day 6: Meet health professionals, finish community visits, and debrief.
Day 7: Depart for Washington, DC.
