Program on International Law, Organizations, and Development

The Program on International Organizations, Law and Development (PIOLD) exposes students to the theory and practice of law and development. The program addresses topics such as the law of multilateral development banks, international trade, labor, property and gender law. PIOLD offers students a unique academic and practical experience in the field of international development through course offerings in Washington, D.C. for the fall, spring, and summer semesters. The courses take place at both Washington College of Law and at the World Bank Headquarters.

Collaboration with the Law and International Development Society

The program grants students an exclusive look on the ground, while exposing them to the cutting-edge issues in the field of international development. PIOLD collaborates with organizations in Washington, D.C. (World Bank, EPLO and ILO) to host numerous presentations on the work and research of experts in the field of international development. PIOLD works with the Law and International Development Society (LIDS) to give students the opportunity to conduct legal research for World Bank projects on international technological development and comparative mining laws and to assist with the annual Land and Poverty Conference and Law Justice and Development week of the World Bank.
