The 国产小呦女Emerging Global Leader Scholarship (国产小呦女EGLS) promotes educational access and opportunity while enhancing international diversity. Bringing together the best of AU鈥攁cademic excellence, leadership development, and global engagement鈥敼∵吓瓻merging Global Leader Scholars achieve, inspire, and serve听with vision. The 国产小呦女EGLs are dedicated to positive civic and social change to help address issues faced by under-resourced, underserved communities in their home country.

The 2025 国产小呦女EGL scholarship covers all billable 国产小呦女expenses (full tuition, room, and board) for two international students who will need a non-immigrant visa (preferably an F-1 or J-1 student visa) to study in the United States. The scholarship does not cover non-billable expenses such as mandatory health insurance, books, airline tickets, taxes, and miscellaneous expenses which students will need to pay out of pocket听(approximately US$4,000 per year).

The 国产小呦女EGL scholarship is renewable for a total of four years of undergraduate study, based on continued satisfactory academic performance.听Students interested in all majors offered at 国产小呦女are eligible to apply.

New:听国产小呦女EGL partial scholarships! We鈥檙e excited to share that in addition to the two full 2025 国产小呦女Emerging Global Leader Scholarships covering all billable expenses, 国产小呦女will also offer up to eight additional generous 国产小呦女EGL partial scholarships valued at up to US$40,000/per year.

No additional application process is needed to be eligible for 国产小呦女EGL partial scholarships. Partial scholarship candidates will be selected from talented applicants who complete听the 国产小呦女EGL scholarship process successfully. If you are recommended for an 国产小呦女EGLs partial scholarship, you will need to submit proof of additional funds beyond the initial US$4,000 for the difference not covered by the 国产小呦女EGLS partial scholarship. For example,听if you are offered US$40,000/year, you will need to submit financial documents confirming US$42,000 on account for your first year instead of the full estimated costs of US$81,620.

You are NOT eligible to apply if:

• You are a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident,听U.S. pending permanent resident, or dual citizen of the U.S. and another country.
• You are enrolled in or have already begun any post-secondary studies at another university in your home country or the United States.
• You graduated secondary school earlier than 2023.

IMPORTANT: The 国产小呦女Emerging Global Leadership Scholarship application process involves two steps:

• Step 1: Applicants who wish to be considered for 国产小呦女EGLS full or partial scholarships must first submit their Common or Coalition application and all supporting documents before December 1, 2024.
• Step 2: Submit the 国产小呦女EGL Scholarship application and essays via your applicant portal by听the required December 1, 2024 special program deadline. You must complete Step 1 before submitting the 国产小呦女EGLS application. Late applications will not be considered.

国产小呦女Emerging Leader Scholarship applicants should apply Regular Decision听for fall 2025 (not Early Decision ED or Early Action EA) and will be notified by April 1st, 2025.

Preference will be given to:

1. International students who have overcome various obstacles and challenges as well as those from diverse and underrepresented global and socioeconomic backgrounds.
2. A minimum 3.8 GPA equivalent out of 4.0 GPA (or in the top 10% of graduating class) for 9th-12th grades.
3. A demonstrated commitment to leadership, volunteerism, community service, and to advancing the needs of people in their home country.
4. Students with one of the following:
   1. 95+ TOEFL iBT (all subscores must be 20 or above)
   2. Sub-scores of 24+ on the paper-based TOEFL (Taken after May 31, 2017)
   3. 7.0+ IELTS (all subscores must be 6.0 or above)
   4. 33 minimum SAT Reading subscore
   5. Score of 630 or higher on the SAT Digital version section entitled "Evidence-Based Reading and Writing" (EBRW) as of March 2023
   6. 29 minimum ACT English
   7. 65 minimum PTE
   8. 125+ Duolingo (all subscores must be 115听or above)
   9. Cambridge Assessment English score of 185听or higher. Each sub-score must be 169 or higher.
5. Students who are still enrolled in secondary/high school and graduating by June 2025.
6. Important: Students in the IB system should plan to graduate with a full IB diploma with at least听3 HL subjects. Students studying in the British A-Levels system must complete at least 3 A levels and finish 13 years of study before August 2025.

The 国产小呦女Emerging Global Leader Scholarship Instructions听

1. Complete and submit the Common Application or Coalition Application with all required documents per the 国产小呦女international instructions checklist听before December 1, 2024.
2. Create your applicant portal when invited to do so.听
3. Submit a bank letter and the completed and signed 国产小呦女Declaration of Finances Form (国产小呦女DFF),听each confirming a minimum of US$4,000. These can be uploaded via your applicant portal. See听examples of bank letters.
4. Submit your official TOEFL,听IELTS,听Duolingo English, PTE, or Cambridge Assessment English听Test score results before December 1, 2024. Please have official English proficiency score reports sent directly听by the testing agency to 国产小呦女, Undergraduate Admissions, Washington, District of Columbia. Note: Students cannot submit their own results.
5. Students who do not submit a complete application packet with all supporting documents by the December 1听deadline will not be reviewed.
6. If you are applying through a program supported by 听or if you are a past FLEX or YES high school scholarship recipient from the U.S. Department of State, please provide a letter from your EducationUSA center's adviser confirming your candidacy. You may request for the letter to be sent to levinson@american.edu as a PDF.
7. If you are not selected as one of the finalists, you may still be considered for admission to 国产小呦女, Washington, DC and eligible for partial merit scholarships. However, to continue the application process, you will need to submit proof of funds totaling up to听US$81,620听(estimated costs for first year of study).
