Educational Access & Equity

From the Reconstruction era鈥檚 Freemen鈥檚 schools to Brown v. Board of Education, and from Little Rock to Ole Miss, education has long been a frontline of the struggle for racial justice and full enfranchisement. ARPC believe that colleges and universities can be vital partners in fostering racial justice and increasing social equity, but that requires them to be accessible, equitable, and just, themselves. Recent trends and events including the Supreme Court鈥檚 overhaul of Affirmative Action, attacks on critical race theory, rollback of DEI initiatives, curtailment of curricular content, and suppression of academic freedom around issues such as Palestine have constituted major impediments to this vision. Drawing on the wide-ranging expertise of our scholars, ARPC intervenes in unfolding current events and narratives connected to educational equity with rapid response analysis and commentary.
